Job Overview
Compremium is seeking a motivated Medical ML / AI Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to the development and deployment of AI-driven components for our medical products. The ideal candidate has a strong background in artificial intelligence and hands-on experience working with multimodal medical data (including imaging) in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a key role across the full AI product lifecycle, from data preparation and model development to validation, optimization, on-device deployment and continuous improvement, ensuring that AI solutions are robust, explainable, and compliant with applicable medical device regulations.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties
• Designing, developing, training, and validating machine learning and AI models for medical products
• Collaborating closely with the data team to ensure data quality, traceability, proper labeling, and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Driving system-level AI architecture and discussing model feasibility, performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Optimizing AI models for deployment on embedded or edge devices, including model compression, quantization, and acceleration techniques
• Testing and verification of AI components, including performance evaluation, robustness analysis, and validation on clinical or pre-clinical datasets
• Contributing to technical, algorithmic, validation and continuous improvement documentation in line with ISO 13485, IEC 62304, FDA guidances, the EU AI Act and other emerging AI-related and medical regulatory standards
• Collaborating cross-functionally with software, clinical, and regulatory teams to define data collection strategies and align AI solutions with clinical needs and product requirements
Minimum Requirements
• Master’s degree or PhD in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of professional experience in ML/AI development, preferably in a regulated medical environment
• Strong proficiency in Python and common ML/AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar)
• Experience with model export and deployment workflows (e.g. ONNX)
• Solid knowledge of model optimization for on-device or embedded execution
• Previous experience working with multimodal medical data, including imaging (especially ultrasound) data
• Fast-learning and proactive mindset
• Impeccable English; German and French working proficiency are a plus
• On-site (in Muri bei Bern) with possibility of partial remote work
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices
• Working knowledge of C/C++ for model integration or inference pipelines
• Experience with CI/CD, MLOps, and version control of data and models
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for the company’s vision and work
• Ability to adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
